  •  About 90% of serotonin is found in the gut. Only about 10% is produced in the brain.

  • Serotonin is made from the essential amino acid tryptophan. An essential amino acid means it can’t be made by your body. It has to be obtained by the foods you eat.

  • Cleveland Clinic reported a study showing that Functional Medicine care is associated with improved health-related quality of life.

What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root cause of disease for each individual.
What Does Functional Medicine Treat?
  • Autoimmune Diseases
  • Chronic Pain, Inflammation, & Stress
  • Hormone Imbalance
  • Thyroid and Adrenal Disorders
  • Neurological Disorders
  • Persistent Illnesses of Unknown Cause
  • Cardiovascular Disorders Including Cardiometabolic Syndrome
  • Obesity
  • Long Covid
Is Functional Medicine Covered by Insurance?
Most often, Functional Medicine is not covered by insurance. The visits are so comprehensive that they take much longer (1hr 45min for the initial visit) and are so directly personalized to the patient that it does not fit the traditional cookie cutter medicine practiced in healthcare today. The benefit of this is that your provider has no obstacles in giving you the proper treatment they see fit for you. However, a patient may use their HSA or FSA as a form of payment.
